Shuttle Fleet to be grounded

2 1/2 years of research, multiple blue-ribbon panel studies, hundreds of millions of dollars spent on correcting the problem, and NASA still hasn't figured out how to prevent foam from falling off the fuel tanks during liftoff. So they say they'll ground the fleet indefinitely until they can come up with a solution.

Bah. Why not just scrap the shuttle fleet, then, and use the money to "correct" the Shuttle problem instead on the next-generation orbiter... one which doesn't have the innate weaknesses the Shuttle has?

I feel vaguely disgusted right now...

Did you actually say that you want the government to do something useful?

*sigh*

They're supposed to be "public servants", right? I think I want to stress the whole "servant" part of it... :-)

"Get your public-servant ass back in that kitchen and make me some PIE!"
